Our History

Pursuing the innovative path

In 2012, building on 25 years of plant science research experience under CID Bio-Science, Felix Instruments – Applied Food Science was founded to focus on the specific needs of the commercial agriculture industry.

Turning on the light with NIRS

Expanding from gas analysis instrumentation into the cutting edge near-infrared spectroscopy market, Felix Instruments released the groundbreaking F-750 Produce Quality Meter in 2014.

Expanding on gas analysis

To cater to the needs of stakeholders at each level of the postharvest supply chain, in 2017 we added three more instruments to our portable gas analysis line, the F-920, F-940, and F-960.

Specializing NIRS by commodity

/Built around the tremendous success of the F-750 Produce Quality Meter, in 2018 Felix Instruments launched the first two commodities of the specialized F-751, single-commodity line of NIR fruit analysis instruments: the Avocado Quality Meter and Mango Quality Meter.

Kiwifruit quality reimagined

Adding a new tool to the kiwifruit grower’s toolbox, 2019 saw the release of the vitally important Kiwifruit Quality Meter. The device allows kiwifruit growers and packers unprecedented precision in understanding both maturity and consumer acceptance parameters.

Committed to creating a better world
